O jornal O Tambaú foi fundado em 28 de março de 1908, é considerado um dos mais antigos periódicos do interior do Estado de São Paulo. Atualmente é de propriedade do jornalista e sociólogo José Edson de Carvalho Martinelli. Está localizado na Rua Cel. José Bittencourt, 158 – Centro – Tambaú/SP. Sua tiragem é de 1500 exemplares por semana.
Independente do poder público, de religião e de ideologias avessas ao espírito democrático ou do Estado de direito, o semanário se pauta em desenvolver um pensamento crítico, através de matérias fundamentadas, oferecendo aos leitores a possibilidade de refletirem perante os fatos, evitando ser manipulados pelo imenso número de informações confusas e contraditórias a que somos submetidos diariamente, tanto em nossas atividades profissionais quanto durante nossas atividades como consumidores e, de uma forma geral, como cidadãos.
O Tambaú vive de anúncios, vendas de exemplares em bancas de revistas, estabelecimentos comerciais e de assinaturas.
Com a inauguração do site, jornal online e inserções no facobook e instagram, o jornal amplia sua atuação frente a esse “admirável mundo novo” da internet, na perspectiva de crescer e oferecer ao internauta uma alternativa de informações.
